Annie
All members of the production team including those behind the scenes should all be congratulated on the amazing results that can be achieved by working together . It should be noted that for some companies the complex and somewhat frustrating rules and regulations applied when working with children in theatre ( never mind about the dog licence !) might put some companies off when choosing to perform Annie and yet Peterbrook Players with Richard and Kelly Tye directing have once again proved their skill and expertise in organising and planing resulting in another sellout production .
The large cast were certainly put through their paces by Paula Whitehouse and the orchestra .whilst the many hours of rehearsal paid off in Suzzanne Ballards effective routines . On the evening I attended Rebecca Bloomer confidently played the part of Annie , along with the other orphans and Dasie ( Sandy ) they gave their audience " ahhhh " appeal, and in return they received a well deserved standing ovation. There were many superb characterisations throughout to numerous to list individually, although special mention must go to Melissa Bickerton ( Lily ) who's accent and screechy voice were consistent throughout , and partnered with multi talented Johnny Weston (Rooster) they were both fantastic. Colourful costume and effective scenery also enhanced the vision of each scene . Memorable numbers for me " Hard knock life " , " I think I'm gonna like it here ", "Easy street " , " your never fully dressed without a smile " , " Tomorrow " and of course the finale .
Annie being a show with many principals and also lots of supporting roles Im sorry if I have not mentioned you by name . but remember without every single one of you this production would not have been as fabulous as it was . The company as a whole should be very proud of such a brilliant all round achievement .
